The Grey’s Anatomy squad shirt. I am Mexican and Italian American. My entire childhood I was surrounded by people of different cultural backgrounds, and I believe that helped me to become a more global person. I also never really considered the importance of being mixed race, since there were so many kinds of people around me. But moving from a city to a town, with a lack of cultural diversity, had turned me into the Mexican girl. I don’t speak Spanish but was automatically labeled just because my skin is darker than that of my cousin, who also has a white mom and a Mexican dad.
